Help What year and what exactly are these tune up tools??

I got these a couple days ago. I think they are from the 50’s or maybe 60’s. I’m not sure exactly what they do anyone remember tune up tools do how they work?

I have some WAGs.

Is the "dial a gap" flat like a screwdriver? If so, maybe it's for setting point gap from closed to the proper setting, and the marks on the "drum" would be thousandths of an inch. I'd venture to guess that this tool was used for '55 and '56 distributor point setting, to help avoid repeated removal and replacement of the cap, because V-8 GM engines didn't get the cap with the "window" until '57.

As for the "wrench", if the blade labeled "spark plug" is .035" thick, it's a plug gap gage. If the blade labeled "distributor" is .017" thick, it's for gapping the points. No idea what the open-end wrench part is for.

Looks like the distributor hold down bolt/nut. WAG here as well.

OK, that could be. It sure wasn't for a spark plug, and 9/16" is about right, by the looks of it.

No taken. The OP asked what it was, and I was able to find instructions.

I can't stand points. My 69 GMC had a points distributor for the first 30 minutes I owned it. Swapped to HEI, threw the point distributor in the trash. Each there own.

Isn’t that interesting, I bought a set of points from Sears Roebuck once for a 63 283, the instructions were to turn screw until engine misses, then turn back either 1/2 turn or 1 turn, can’t remember for sure. I never had a dwell meter then, but I always used that method, and put a lot of miles on that truck.

That stuff did work, no doubt about it. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't tell you to set the gap to .017" and sell you a set of feeler gauges, though.

LoL I did get the feeler gauge. I bought the “tune up” kit
