Crazy Question (Let Me Know If You Have Tried)

Hi Guys,

I just received an intermittent wiper delay switch and module for my 80 Jimmy. The S & M being 45 years old are need of a deep cleaning. I disassembled both with no issues but have a question about the switch lens.

The lens is connected to a metal frame that clips to the switch housing. (I'll post a pic here in a little while) I don't think there is a way to remove the lens from the switch housing without destroying the lens.

So, my thought was to just dunk the lens and housing under water to clean it. There's nothing to damage from getting wet and the water that get in between the housing and lens should eventually dissipate, even if I need to stick it in a bag of rice.

So, has anyone tried this? Will it work? Something I'm missing? Let me know what you think.

I think I would try a computer keyboard cleaner.

Certainly won’t hurt. Once it soaks, rinse and then just blow it dry with an air compressor nozzle.

If that doesn't work, maybe some plastic scratch repair stuff like they use on cheap plastic headlights will do something.

I be leave you can bend the steel side clips but very be careful
and genital with it to take off the plastic cover but do not cleaner on the print under the and do not rub light tap real lower air pressure water moist only. clean the rust steel clips paint or clear coat semi-gloss or sating clear. Then genital put all back you can hand buff the front edges if the rust dep imbedded in the plastic, just take care not to scratch print
