I have a stupid question.
Hello
I am trying to find the factory location where the ballast resister would be. I can’t find it. This is a factory V8 car three speed with AC. This is driving me crazy I can’t find it. Does anyone have a picture to share? I would follow the wires if most hadn’t been chewed apart by mice. Oddly enough the radiator hose has been completely chewed apart. Thanks Pete |

Re: I have a stupid question.
You'd probably get a quicker response in the electrical forum. Sometimes the resistor is in the form of a wire. What car?

Re: I have a stupid question.
Follow the yellow wire from the starter "R" terminal up to the coil "+" side. There is another wire attached to it, coming from the ignition switch. That will be the factory resistance wire.

Re: I have a stupid question.
Bummer. Well, follow the bare strands from the starter "R" terminal, or did the little buggers eat that, too?

Re: I have a stupid question.
On my 62, the wire from the key switch to the firewall connector was just a regular wire and from the engine side of the connector to the distributor was the cloth covered "resistance wire". The wire was doubled over and taped in the center which I think was how they "adjusted" the resistance (by getting a precise length).
