5.3 and 6.0 part compatibility ?

I currently have a 6.0 LQ4 being built and will not be using quite a bit of the stock parts from it........ I also just picked up a 5.3 LM7 and wanted to know if I could use the stock 6.0 parts on the 5.3 ??

Items from the 6.0 I'm wondering if I can use on the 5.3 are the following:

intake - both engines have cathedral port heads
camshaft
water pump
brackets
front cover
etc....

Any info would be appreciated....like if they would work, what other things would need to be done to make them work or if they swap with no extra work or parts.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 5.3 and 6.0 part compatibility ?

They are both Gen 3 engines, so pretty much everything should fit. The only issue on the water pump and brackets might be what the engines came out of. There were different offsets for various cars/truck applications.

The front cover, camshaft, intake should all interchange.

I don't think you will have a problem but really take real close look at the cam shaft. Even though it's a roller cam but if it's got some weird wear patterns on the lobes I would not reuse it.

If you want a little extra performance, you can use the LM7 heads on the 6.0. It will bump the compression up a little.

Re: 5.3 and 6.0 part compatibility ?

Could I put the stock LQ4 6.0 cam into the LM7 5.3 to pump up the 5.3? If so, would I need to do anything else or would I just swap cams? What would the increases be on the 5.3 ?
