I'll know more tomorrow if its gonna be a new drive shaft or elongating mine. Seems the guy at the shop has a 49 GMC so he knew exactly what I was talking about.

The only to make a drive shaft longer is replace the complete tube. You can't add in a section to lengthen them.

It's been about ten years since I had a driveline shop retube one of my dump truck driveshafts. It was $40.

Local prices differ a bunch but around here a guy is looking at somewhere bettween 1 and 2 hundred to have just the tube replaced. That is at a drive shaft shop that can balance the driveshaft right.
