Re: May Have Found Custom Seat Foam :)

I got a piece of upholstery foam off of Amazon , hot knifed it close to size and then shaved it down with a bottle lid with nail holes popped through it. Worked kinda like a cheese grader

Re: May Have Found Custom Seat Foam :)

I finally pulled my 64's full-foam seat apart for side spring replacement, and foam assessment. Once stripped down, the foam looks surprisingly good, but is very soft and broken down on the driver's side. Like others here, it is marked 3816940.

So after some searching, the best price right now—by quite a bit—is at Classic Industries, for $182 + oversize-2 shipping. That shipping (from CA to OR) is normally $50, but if you catch one of their frequent "free ground shipping" promos they discount the shipping. Was only $26 to OR with the discount.

The kit (SF207) includes the flat foam pad for the backrest as well. I'll report back once I have it in hand.

Well, I missed both of those. Although CJ's is the cushion only (no back pad) and is 4 weeks out. Speedway looks like it's in stock, though.

No worries, I picked up some additional items at the same time with no shipping, so it's all good.

Re: May Have Found Custom Seat Foam :)

The new foam arrived today. Really pleased with the fit on the seat sprigs and frame. Also noticed that there is a layer of something similar to the original burlap already glued to the underside of the foam where it will sit on the springs. It does not have any of that type of spring protection fabric on the two ends of the seat, but I will cut a bit of leftover carpet prevent the seat side springs from collapsing into the foam. I'm hoping to get at least the cushion recovered this weekend, if not the seat back as well. Pictures yet to come.

I use jute between the foam & springs. Works great!

Re: May Have Found Custom Seat Foam :)

Really pleased with the fit and feel of this foam. Makes it easy to build a nice seat. The cushion is done. Backrest sometime this weekend.

Re: May Have Found Custom Seat Foam :)

Hello,
Does anyone know what size clutch head bolt tool fits my seat track to seat frame bolts? 65 C10 standard seat. Thanks in advance!
