Rear x frame 1961 removal?

Curious… maybe a dumb question causing the frame to be weak but has anyone cut the rear part of the x frame out behind the carrier bearing , then boxed the frame rails running back and boxed the center support cross member to stiffen it up. This would eliminate arms hitting when slamming the truck? Any thoughts

It's not necessary. Get blocks to correct trailing arms in their arc. I went with Porterbuilt arms with 2" drop built in.. they also have 3". Adjustable to help center axle. They have a bridge notch or full rear kit.

This is for a 1961 c10 ?only thing I see is a whole new back half for the truck. Is that what you are talking about? How low can you drop it and still be road worthy before they hit… does anyone know? I am installing a 12 bolt out of a 81 into it.

If you haven't had a chance to check out SkinnyG's build, I think you could find some valuable information regarding the X frame there. Follow this link: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=756182 Page 3 has a lot of frame work

you might have to call to get just the bridge. I made my own pipe notch. I went with a 2 piece driveshaft on the shortbed because clearance issues. Look at my build. I don't need to drop more. I have 2" left after shocks bottom out.
