Window Regulator Issues just an FYI

I ordered two new window regulators recently.

I installed them on my doors. Each one will not take an original splined window crank. Close but no luck. If you try to force or bump it on it just kills the splines in the handle.

The ones I got were from CJ, perhaps LMC has better quality.

If you have recently done this let me know where you found ones that worked well.

I bought one recently that is made by Dorman. It's a well-made product and fits and operates as it should.

I'll have to look for it. Right now I can't remember who I bought it from. That's what getting old does to you.

Re: Window Regulator Issues just an FYI

I have the same problem with one window regulator. Looking forward to seeing if a solution is found.

Don't count on it, I bought one from LMC, put a OEM crank on it and it stripped out the splines on the regulator on the first up and down of the window. Contacted LMC, they refunded my money and didn't even want pictures or it back.

Re: Window Regulator Issues just an FYI

After several OEM window cranks, I have come to realize if you order new regulators, just get new crank handles.

My OEM handles did not work with the CJ Pony parts regulators or the LMC regulators.

I found the LMC regulator to be of much higher quality than the CJ brand.

My "Next Day" Dorman regulators turned into next week or whenever we feel like delivering them, regulators.

That's just sad, the one I got from LMC made one trip up and down before the splines started stripping off.

Me too. I went through 3 different companies and still no luck. I'll try the Dorman number. The sad part is you can't even talk to someone that knows anything, just someone answering phone.

Re: Window Regulator Issues just an FYI

A quick clarification - the Dorman 752-136 & 752-137 are for '60-63.

For '64-66 you need 752-138 & 752-139 instead.

Re: Window Regulator Issues just an FYI

Just for the record, I ordered from "https://www.classicparts.com/" for my 1960, and it fit my aftermarket cranks just fine, and hasn't slipped yet... not sure who made it however
