1979 Sierra Classic Restoration!

Hi, I'm new here. I have an old truck with quite a story behind it. My father purchased this truck new in 1979. Dad was a Logger and he ordered this truck with everything he wanted. It's a Sierra Classic SWB 4X4, 350 4Barrel 4 Bolt Main, Turbo 350 Tranny, Factory Tach, Dual Gas Tanks, etc. He took the truck to Mississipi, Kentucky, Tennesse (with us kids also, I was 12, the oldest of three younger brother and sisters) and elsewhere in his work the six short months he had it before he died of a stroke at the age of 34 on a job in Murpheesboro, Ill. My Grandparents sold it. In 1996 my sister wondered one day if it was still on the road and after going through the DMV in Iowa, Ill, and Nebraska, found it. The owners did not want to sell it at that time. But they contacted her in 1999 and she and my brother in-law bought it back to Iowa. It sat for a few years in their barn and I'm now the owner (though it will never leave the family again). As you can see it is going to need alot of work! But it's all there and it's my intent to restore it just the way it looked when Dad brought it home! I'm so glad to have found this forum and want to thank everyone in advance for all the help I'm going to need! Here is just a few pics, will have many more to come!

It's great to have a vision of what you want. It's even better when that vision is motivated by sentiment. You have a long way to go getting it like new again. If you need any info drop in the 73-87 forum. There are a lot of guys there with tons of knowledge on these trucks
