Passenger side mirror question

My mirror on the drivers side has been extended a inch or so .The passenger side mirror has not been done so.. I would like to know how one extends it from somone that has done it ,,step by step ,, so I can do it. 1983 Chevy truck factory mirrors

It is easiest to do it with the glass out. There is a clip that holds the 90 degree rod to the mirror head. It needs to be removed to extend the mirror. That being said, you could twist the head back and forth while pulling and it MAY pop that clip loose.This was what we did on my dually. Unfortunately, when you do this, it leave that clip floating around in the mirror head and it rattles every time you slam the door. I am currently putting new glass in a spare set of mirrors for that truck and they are being installed without that clip
