Need help identifying C30 rearend

Hey we are trying to get an 86 C30 flatbed ready for power tour and the "to do" list looks overwhelming. This truck was built from several trucks and I don't know what rear end was used in it. (It was originally a 4x2) Any help is appreciated!

Re: Need help identifying C30 rearend

Looks like a cab and chassis rear out of a one ton. The because of how close the break drum is to the spring.

Looks like a Cab and Chassis axle to me also.

If you have time take a Scotch Brite wheel.

Clean the Axle Tube and look for the I. D. stamped Code.

Re: Need help identifying C30 rearend

I am wanting to convert it to a single driveshaft. Before I call some of the driveshaft builders, I wanted to know what brand the rear end is. When you say 14b does that mean it is a GM 14b?
Where is the ID code stamped?

The ID code will be stamped on the axle tube.

I will try to go see if I can get a good picture of the one on mine.

Here's a few links for info.

The code is on the top of the passenger side on mine.

Keep in mind that the ring could have been change over the years.

Re: Need help identifying C30 rearend

How long is your wheelbase?? If it's long, then to go to a 1pc shaft the diameter has to increase significantly...There's a reason for 2pc driveshafts...also nothing wrong with them
14b =14 bolt rear axle
