Explain the C-Notch!
Can anybody explain the c-notch to me. I'm a complete dumbass when it comes to this stuff. I have 4 inch drop springs on the rear of my 70 step. I thought about going a little lower. I'd appreciate it.

Take a look at the picture in the attached link, basically the lower the truck sits, the closer the rear axle has to be to the frame, usually the axle tubes will hit the frame if you try to go too low. Solution, cut out some of the frame to get clearance.

basicily it is a cutout in the frame so the rears axle tubes can go into the frame.look at this thread and you can see a c-notch.See how the rear is up in the frame? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=128258

I have a 6 inch rear drop with no c-notch. All ECE stuff by the way.
At the Texas board meet, I had a motorcycle in the bed of my truck and with 2 of us bouncing the bumper, we still couldn't get it to bottom out. I weigh 210, the other guy about 200 or so, and the weight of the motorcycle in the bed too. In the last year since I lowered the truck, I haven't ever bottomed it out once. There is dirt/ mud on the frame so it would be obvious if it was touching as it would knock the mud off at least.
