Black wheels or no black wheels??
Well, been playin' w/ photoshop some more and figured this is what I want my truck to look like someday. I thought maybe some black wheels would look good w/ that paint scheme, but now I am not sure. What do you guys think??

I think black wheels get lost in the large wheelwells we have, but that is just my opinion. I think a nice billet wheel would accent your truck a lot more. I do like the simple 2 tone break you have there.

I think the black wheel with a polished lip looks good. I'd put them on my truck.

Yeah, they would deffinatly have a polished lip on them. I am not too hot for all black wheels. It is kind of hard to tell in the pic. Looks more like a white wall as opposed to a polished lip, but it is :p

I think it would look good. You have to remember you should have a LOT more lip than that, and it would make the wheel stand out more. I say go for it. Or order some that you like and see how you like it, if you wanna powder coat after that, do it then.

Sorry guys but I have to vote NO to dark wheels! I think this trend toward dark colored wheels is all wrong. The wheel just dies when it's that dark.
Think about how big of a difference it make when you take a stock truck and add a chrome or polished wheel. It really makes the truck come to life. Now take that same scenerio and go the opposite direction with a dark colored wheel, and it has a negative effect.....

I like the dark wheels, it gives the truck more of a road racing or serious kind of look..but not a gawdy one. It seems EVERYBODY has big inch polished or chrome wheels...been done a million times. Look at Frank's (7t7) truck, his truck really gets my attention, and the wheels are a big reason for it.

I say go for it. Dark wheels can look good, depending on the wheel itself. I like the road race/rally look myself.
I have bronze-colored wheels on my WRX and I love 'em (much more subdued than the gold wheels that are popular with the rally guys). I have gunmetal stock rallys on my truck, and I like the look of them. A lot of people have polished and chrome. To me, chrome and polished wheels look good if the rest of the vehicle goes along with it. That pic of your truck looks pretty modern and would look good with dark wheels. How about a gunmetal color (with a polished lip) to match the accent stripe on the door?

Those are the American Racing AR 767 right? or something like that. WAAAAY back in the day, like years ago before i even got ol red, i was thinking about those rims, but i decided against them. They would match your truck fairly well, but its hard to pull off black wheels on these kinda trucks IMHO.
BUT as i like to believe, the only opion that matters is yours, and the only happy person has to be the guy who's name is on the title

I am not sure what kind of wheel that is. It just happened to be the only one I could find at the moment that was close to the angle I needed to shop them in the pic. Like Dave said, the ones I go w/ will prob have more of a lip, so it will make it look better. Either way, I have a looooooong way to go before I have to start worrying about what wheels I want to get; just that since I can't work on it for real, it don't cost a thing to dream
This is what it really looks like right now. |

here is my truck, the rims were Krom 923B (or maybe 925B), 20x8 on a 275/55/20 tire , i went with it cause here in FL and also in the south, mostly the "dark areas", the thinking is the more chrome the better, so i got the black rims to be different, plus with the polished chrome lip, it gives that 2 tone effect of the black and chrome/silver, so its a complimenting contrast of colors that still gets the effect of thats its a 20 inch rim(with the lip showing hte overall diameter), but not being too flashy |

What if you buy a Rim like the Giovanni Genoa Rim which is Billet but you have the option to buy a Black Billet Piece that goes over the Star Portion of the Rim. That way you get the best of both worlds A Billet Rim with some Black in it. Here is a Picture of just the Rim W/O the Black Piece.

IMO black spokes only work on 4x4's. I know there is that whole NASAR look thing some people go for, but to me, it only looks right on a 4x4.
Now, as for rallyes, I say go for it. These will actually go on my black Jimmy once I resolve the transmission isues, but like 8t5silv said above, the rallyes I have for this ride will probably get painted the same color as the lower portion of the truck - a pewter/grey sort of color.

I really like certain black wheels on certain trucks. But its kind of a strange deal, if you have the wrong color truck or wrong wheel & it can be ugly as sh!t too...corn

the only time i ever seem to like black wheels is when they're small rims on big fat mudders with a lot of meat. otherwise i personally think it looks kind of cheap. like your rolling down the street on your black steelies... but thats just my .02
