Progress pics, finally

Here is the green machine (wife calls it Shrek) It has been a 3 year project so far, and finally getting somewhere. It has a ECE 4-6 drop, it's shaved besides the door handles and locks. Still needs bumpers, grill trim installed, mirrors, bedliner, and some interior like carpet and door panels. It runs a mighty 305 and a th350/3.73 rear.

Nice Truck, I love the Stance.

My 67 is about the same point right now. It's a awesome feeling getting it all back together. I love seeing the grill trim gon on. It brings the front end right to life.

Thank you all! I have worked very hard on it, and has been a long road so far but very rewarding when you get it looking like a truck again. I get good compliments on it from a few locals that drive by, but still have not really driven it to much, just about a mile that's all. Can't wait for the moment when I can climb into it, and take it fog cruise for the first time.

I am in Turlock, have been here for 8 years now and like it better than LA.
(No offence to LA people, just spent my first 30 years there and got burned out)

Forgot to mention, the tire sizes are 235/60 front and 285/70 in back in case anyone was wondering, both on 8 inch wheels. I wanted to put 17 inch billets on it, but with the cost out there a little bit, the Chevelle gets the call on those

Everyone thanks again for the props

Nice looking truck. Can definitely take a while to get where you want to the truck to be, but worth the wait.

I looked for a long time to find a color that might look diferent but at home at the same time for this project. I could have chosen pretty much anything I wanted to, but kind of wanted to stay away from the primary colors because just wanted to stand out a little bit. So there it is, a silver/green I found on a VW Passat called 'Fresco green' I have the code at home on the can if curious. It was this or a copperhead style color, but my reasoning was that it may be chosen by many other people and did not want to seem trendy.

I do love that copper color though, it would look awesome on the truck either way.

Nice job! I will be painting mine next week. My color choice is a bit darker. Dark Charcole Metalic. I am in Stockton. Got a cowel and chrome rear bumper at the Turlock Swap meet. I bet you were there too! Keep up the great work on your truck (looking great) and Chevelle. Hollar if you see a Charcole 69, I'll do the same for your Silver/Green.

Will do, I think the next Turlock swap meet is in late April for the spring meet. I am making a trip out to the Goodguys meet the 19th/20th to pick up a couple of new bumpers from the truck shop from Orange that drives that big rolling store on 18 wheels around the state. They have very good prices, and no sales tax so I am in Good luck to you on getting paint on the truck, I know what a big job that is...post pics when you get a chance.

Thanks Alexis, I have never been to HAN, so you never know? I won't be driving the Chevelle, fuel prices by then might be to high for a big block
But you never know. I will see if anyone from here is attending and go from there.

Really?... Me rubs my hands together.... You got 285's to fit in the
back eh? Any clearence issues? I wonder how big I can go... 285
sounds sweet on the back, I on the front I was hoping for 265 but
I think that might be pushing it.

Oh ya, no problem with the rear wheels/tires. They look pretty good in there as well, but at first it was a little getting use to because of the size. I believe the backspacing is 4.5 inches at the most. I did but them second hand, sorry if not more specific

And thank you Krue

I like those wheels just like you have it set up. I wouldn't change it, but then again, I'm just not a fan of big wheels on a truck, (unless it's somthing like 44's on a lifted 4x4)

I work for Volkswagen and have always been a fan of the Fresco Green that's on the Passats. I didn't know that was the color though on yours though

I am planning on doing the same drop (4-6) on my '69Burb. Did you have to use a c-notch???

Thanks guys, yes thats the fresco green that is on the Passats. It took me a while to find the right color that I liked, it was between this and the green on the Nissan Altima. the VW won out, just looks better to me.

The drop is a 4-6, but it might look different because of the larger rear tires I put on. I do like the 275/60 for that lower look, but I caught these tires in the local paper for sale cheap and they were vey new still. So, anywhere to save $$ I am all for it But they look pretty good so they stay on for now.

No, I did not have to c-notch at all. The axle/frame clearance is at least 3 inches, and with a few things in the bed, and with me bouncing on the tailgate did not even come close to interfering with eachother. Those ECE drop springs have a good rate on them to do that, they did thier homework. But at normal ride height they are reasonably soft for general driving empty. I really cannot give my actual experience though, the truck has not been driven yet with this setup just from feel.
