Engine colour (or color for ppl south of here)
Finally got the motor pulled and cleaned up for paint. Kinda having a battle over which colour to paint it now though. I will give you a break down of what I have in mind. Since we are a Bill Hirsch dealer I have about 300 quart cans of paint at my disposal of every colour imaginable. Wanted to paint the block GM orange, the manifolds, intake and serpentine belt setup stainless and black accessories. The chassis is going to be painted chassis black along with the inner fenders. The fire wall is going to be inferno red pearl metallic. The guys at the shop want to paint the motor black or red, but I don't think that it will give enough contrast. I want it too really stand out, and as far I as I know SBC where orange in that era. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

I still want it orange, they say that the orange against the red will look awful. I disagree, I think that it will stand out.

I've always thought a motor painted to match the paint of the vehicle looked sharp. I do agree it might not stand out as much though.

I would vote for orange but it's your truck! I personally don't get into the color matched engine compartments with the engine covers that you see in a lot of the customs produced. I like to see the power plant and if your gonna see it you might as well make it stand out.

My truck is partly assemble now, with a cab and engine, no front clip. The cab is painted Victory Red, which is a GMC colour that they used on 03 and 04 maybe more, pickups. My engine is orange. If you want a pic I could take one maybe tomorrow morning or Sunday. I'll need a email because i don't know ow to post a pic yet. PM if interested.

Orange screams chevy to me. Wouldn't have my engine any other colour.

I am a huge lover of chrome and orange with chrome just makes me swoon with an almost girlish glee I'm slowly getting my engine compartment all chromed out with that big old orange block and heads and oilpan taking center stage
