Hole in flywheel cover? 68 Manual trans
At the risk of showing my total and complete lack of knowledge, what the heck?
I was under the truck, cleaning and de-gunking. And I looked up to see this. I have a the original service a overhaul manuals, but I did not see anything that might explain this. I am hoping it is just a cover and that I can find one in a boneyard. Any ideas? Come on, take a guess... It'll surely be a better guess than mine.

Was that truck lowered at one time? Be glad it wasn't your oil pan.
Loos to me Gramps may have had a run in with a large protruding rock at some point. I wouldn't worry about it, and if it concerns you post a WTB. Those clutch inspection covers for are all the same small block or inline

Thanks guys. Clutch inspection cover, gotta remeber that.
Well, the truck was often loaded, and I am sure BEYOND weight capacity. But the suspension has never been modified and Gramps sure was not rolling in a lowered pick-up! But he was not the best driver, so I'll bet he ran over a rock, a stump, a cow, something big! |

Hey, I need to get one of those too. I was looking under my truck, and I don't even have one. I can stick my fingers right in to the throwout if I wanted to.
