4X4 gear shift knob?
I bought a 4X4 gear shift knob off ebay I was told it was out of a 72 it had the numbers and letters on it. The threads were to big for my 70 jimmy shifter does all 67-72 4X4 shift have the same threads on the gear shift or is 72 differant than the rest. thanks Gary

different I believe
I'm not sure if the earlier ones were avail. with a pattern. I think I need the 72 version and will check on the one that does not fit mine if you might be interested in trade.

The '70 blazer/jimmy didn't have symbols on the shift knob, they had the sticker on the glovebox door.

What transfer case do you have in your Jimmy? Some '69s and possibly early '70s had the DANA 20. If your truck is a 3spd, it might be a DANA 20.

It will not fit I have a 70 that has no letters on the knob and a 71 that has them. I to wanted one with the letters for my 70. Bought a mint one from pickupman it was too big took mine off my 71 and checked it. a 69-70 transfercase shifter has a different thread at least mine does

Sometimes I think they put the stickers wherever they felt like it-- I have seen them above the rearview mirror and on the sun visor.

thread sizes
Gary 70 Jimmy - I was looking for a knob for my np205 and in the attached thread, many other members got into the discussion of thread sizes. Thought the following link might be helpful for you.

72 T-case Shifter Knob
Threads are a 7/16 NF and pattern is NP 205: from top - 4L,N,2H and 4L.
There is a thin 7/16 nut that fit on the shifter threads underneath the knob to lock it in place. Last edited by D.PASSMORE; 04-08-2005 at 11:45 AM. |
