55-57 cameos- what are they worth in project form?
The guy I bought my 68 C10 from has a 55-57 cameo that he said he would sell me cheap. I looked at it real quick when I picked up my 68 but forgot to look and see what year it was. It`s pretty rough but everything looks like it`s there but I`m almost positive the original drivetrain is gone. I do know it was white, has a speaker above the rearview mirror, big window and obviously has the cameo bed. I`m more of a 67-72 guy but I know it`s a cameo bed and not a 58 up fleet bed. It`s got the glass bedsides. What do you guys think?

I would be interested in the truck for parts if it is cheap as I have a few cameos and always need the extra parts.

I`ll talk to him again and see about how much he wants. I might be able to get some pictures of it too but someone will have to post them for me when I get them. The truck is in Napa by the way. I just moved up here to Sac from Napa in January. He also has a bunch of 55-57 stuff like doors fenders hoods and a 58 cab that all the bodywork is done and is painted white also. I`ll give him a call and see what I can work out. Like I posted above, I`m more of a 67-72 guy myself but I thought if the price was right I might try to get it. I`ll keep you posted.

A cheap Cameo, don't let it go. Those are getting harder and harder to find. A true Cameo that is. If he is at the point of selling cheap I would get it and help out some board guys with parts or even ebay it and get some project money. Some things you just can't pass up. Napcos and Cameos are worth purchasing.

I wasn`t able to get over and tack some pictures but Ii talked to him earlier and got a little more info. He thinks it`s a 55 with a 57 bed. It might not even be a real cameo. He got it as a abandoned father/son project and hasn`t touched it. The rear bumper and tail lights are missing. It has a 350/350 combo and no paper work. He said it`s in restorable condition and it doesn`t run either. He wants $1,500 for it. If I had the money I would do it but Ii have enough toys right now.
extd56, if your still interested I might be able to set up a meeting with the guy for you. Send me a pm if your interested and we`ll work something out.

More pictures, it has 57 front fenders and a 55 hood with a 55 Chevy cab. The bed is off a 57 or 58 Chevy and is in ruff condition as is the rest of the truck. It is only good I think for parts.

boy thats rougher than I realized. I only looked at it once real quick. I think your right, it`s only good for parts unless you want a pretty big project.

If anyone buys that for parts I will buy that bowtie emblem off the tailgate for sure. I have been looking for one for some time now. Just email or PM me. I could really use it.

Nice -- somebody rested the frame (?) up against the fiberglass bedside and the trim.
![]() How far is that from your place, CW? And what is he asking?

Yikes. The guy must have overheard somebody at the local bar talking about Cameos. If that's his idea of cheap I'd be afraid to see his idea of... well, not cheap.
Thanks for responding. ![]()

actually his dad is a big 55-59 fan so they have built a few of these trucks. He is more of a 67-72 guy but happens to have this cameo. I did`nt realize it was so rough. When I bought my 68 from him, I just walked over and took a quick peak. For some reason I remember it being painted all white. I don`t remember it being so rusty but like I said, it was a quick peak. If I had known the condition of it, I would`nt have posted it. It is fixable but not without spending alot of money and for $1500, I`m pretty sure I could find a better truck to start with. I don`t know why he is asking what he is but if he waits long enough, someone will probably buy it. You never know, he might take less. I never offered him anything so I don`t know if he is firm or not.
