Finally some PICS

Well assuming I don't screw this up here are some progress pics of the step notch and crossmenber I did on my 72 Burb. It is a suicidedoors 10" step notch with 3" custom blocks, and a panhard bar I built. It is sitting on 20" Helos with a 275/45/20 tire. What do ya think?

Here is how she sits right now with the front and back all the way laid out. As you can see the front still needs alot of slicing.

looks like nice work. Are you going to cover that with some lexan floor and tubs, so you can drive it and still show off your work?

Thanks for all the compliments, for the cover, I think I am going to make some kind of cover on stuts that I can lift up at shows, and to access the bags to work on it. I thought about lexan, but I think it would just get nasty, also I don't want anybody to be able to see anything, I have had enough stuff stolen from my vehicles already

For the front I am in a pickle over the hood hinges. With such a tall tire I can only go another inch and a half if I grind all the way to the first bolt, so eventually I think I will have to go with a reverse tilt hood to get it to lay out. I will try to post a few more pics in the next few days if you want.

I'm in the same boat as for hinges. I have seen a few that are billet and mount inward alittle more so they'll clear the tires but I can't find them. If i do i'll let you know and I'll try to get a pic up.

Those hinges, are sweet, but a $169.00 I think they are a little too rich for my poor cheap blood . I might try to duplicate them, or like I said maybe a front tilt set up, would be sweet. I have seen s-10's with hinges off an eighties front tilt buick, that worked pretty well, well see. Right now I am more concerned about just driving it for awhile even if the front is a little higher, I need to see SOME light at the end of the tunnel .

There are about 6 members on fullsizechevy.com that took the buick hinges and lengthened the front support rod and they worked great.

don't know anything about burbs, so... is the rear suspension the same as a C10?

So with a rear drop this severe, how are the stock trailing arms still able to be used? Is it the combination of the 20" wheels with the 3" blocks? Would there be any advantages to going to a 4link?

If You look at his last picture,You can see were the trailing arms are on the outside of the rear of the notch.

A 275/45-20 tire is about 29" tall.

yea, I noticed that. So the trailing arms are not hitting the frame because of the tall tires and the 3" blocks??

Actually with it layed out, the trailing arms are resting on the frame. The three inch blocks is what allowed me to get it that much lower. If I wanted it to lay rocker, which is about another inch and a half, I could just run a lower profile tire, and then section the bottom of the frame about an inch.
