minimum ground clearance on the street?
what is the minimum ground clearance required for the street? the 3 1/2" exhaust i'm putting on my lowered 67 is is only gonna clear the ground by the 3" . besides speed bumps, is this gonna be ok?

You could do what I did... box the frame and cut a whole through the frame and run your exhaust through the frame and keep it above your frame rails... or can C-notch your frame to clear exhaust...

You'll clear alot of road stuff but eventually you'll hit something.
Why not try & tuck that up as much as possible within the frame rails? In those pics it looks like the entire system is below the bottom of the rail. I understand it's 3.5" dia tubing, but mine has 3" & you can't see any of it & it dumps @ the rear-end housing.

the headers are hooker super comps, 2" primaries, 3 1/2" collectors. the problem is more in the headers i guess. they hang below the tranny crossmember, so in order to run the rest of the exhaust, it has to be below it too.

I put a tubular cross member on my tranny, it has a u shaped bend under the tranny. I then used mandrel s bends to take my exhaust up into the frame rails.

Most guys have more luck with the Hooker competition headers #2455 instaed of the "super-comps". They tuck up between the frame rails nice.

You may as well go ahead and pull that off and lay it in the back of your truck. It's going to end up there anyway after you drag it off. Unless your truck is bagged, and I know it's not, that never going to last....

Damn! That's exactly why I'm considering mid-length or shorty headers. I know it might not be the best for outright performance, but I would be nervous every time I went over a bump in the road.
Right now I've got 2 1/2" pipes, tucked above the bottom of the frame rails, over the transmission cross-member, and I've yet to drag anything.

You're making those of us with exceptionally low trucks wince. As N2TRUX has already indicated, those are going to fall into the "I used to have these on my truc" category if you actually drive anywhere. You'll be extra careful, but that one time you're forced into the lane with the big bump and the 18-wheeler is riding your bumper, you're going to shred them.

You need to find another set of headders. And tuck it up in the frame.

I went to midlengths after the same problems. I lost no power actually with the ported MACs I now have...

with my 4-6 drop I caught a rock on a dirt road going about 15mph It tore the flange right off the header. I'm running shorty hedmen elites now. 4" more ground clearance. Worst part of learning this the hard way was the 3" stainless and flowmasters I had to throw away because of speedbumps and dips in the highway; scraps, rips, and crushed pipes everwhere.

Try these motor mounts and a set of camaro shortys. I would get the hedders first. If they hit use these mounts. I have them on my small block and they clear my headman shortys.Small block thought..
