I would have to say that your going to get a hard pull to the left when applying the brakes. Or its not going to ride right unless you get the other a frame off the floor and back on the truck.

the headers r to shiny the motor is to pretty and clean there not hubs for the wheels or shocks so i think u need them to drive around j/k lookin badazz

Thanks for the props guys. I am soooo sick and tired of prepping and painting parts!! I just want to get this thing bolted together and drive it. But unfortunately I have a long ways to go before I can do this

No, the bushing nuts on the crossshafts are not torqued yet. I tightend them just enough to hold the arm in place so it didn't flop around. After I get the rotor/hubs and the wheels on I will set it down and do the final touque.

Not sure on the brake shields. I had BellTech spindles years ago on a different truck and don't remember having to modify anything. But I will check it out and follow up with a pic tonight.

Looks like you are doing a great job there. Clean is good. It will be nice when you get it done and you can say "I did it". Getting to drive it and getting all the thums up is not bad eather.

As good as it looks i think you should disassemble it and paint the spindles and the cross shafts you may be tired of painting parts now but in a few months and years its gonna be rusting like a Ford and then you wont be so happy and you'll be kicking your own a$$ thinking why didnt i paint that stuff.

It's so simple to disassemble it now and you havent spent 60 bux on an alignment. But when the truck is on the road again you wont want to do it.

Also for who ever asked about having to modify the dust cover plate i didn't need to modify mine and i used belltech spindles.

Yeah, I agree. I put a coat of POR-15 on them. How's this look?




And here is the dust shield installed, no mods required. Notice the ARP stainless steel 12 point bolts.


Incidently, one of my original dust shields was mangled. I got a replacement from the junk yard. When I was cleaning them up to paint them, I noticed the newer one is much thinner steel than the original. Evidently this was a 'cost reduction' sometime after '77. And BTW, the new one was noticably lighter than the old one.... hmmmm, less unsprung weight.

There are quite a few. These are from the '77 factory sevice manual for a C10:

LCA shaft U-bolt - 85
UCA shaft nuts - 70
control arm rubber bushings, all - 140
UCA ball joint nut - 50 + additional to line up cotter pin, do not exceed 90
LCA ball joint nut - 90 + additional to line up cotter pin, do not exceed 130
Sway bar mounts, all - 25
shock upper - 140
shock lower - 60
brake splash shield to knuckle - 10
caliper mounting bolt - 35
wheel bearing preload - zero
wheel bearing end play - .001" to .005"

And if you had the crossmember out:
crossmember to side rail - 65
crossmember to bottom rail - 100

That looks awesome!! Looking at those pic's i noticed your LCA are not lipped or trimmed for wheel clearance.

I dont know what size wheels you plan to run but you may need to go back and trim that lip off.

I hope I can use the Impala SS wheels I have. They are 17"x8.5" with 5.06" backspace. I may have to use a spacer to push them out a bit.

I need two more parts to finish up the steering/suspension. The centerlink and the bracket or 'post' that the idler arm pivots on. I threw my originals away when I stipped the truck thinking I would replace them with new parts. Problem I'm finding now is you can't buy them new. If anyone has these for sale, please let me know.

The Impala wheels will look great on your truck, and shouldn't need to be spaced out. However, you may want to run spacers in the rear since the rear track width is narrower than the front. It will make the truck look much better IMO.
