New from Indiana
Hello,
New Guy here. I just picked up a 1986 C10 short bed 2wd. It is going to be my daily driver, as well as tow vehicale for my 1988 IROC and 1967 Firebird convertible. The truck was a 4.3, but it started knocking, so they swaped in a used 350. It has a th 400 tranny, did have air, but the compressor and lines are gone now. A couple small rust holes, but the bed is solid, and the doors still close well and do not sag! The seat has no rips, and inside looks pretty good. I am going to lower it, add some 17" ralleys, a good stereo, and repaint it. I will eventually build a hyd. roller cammed 350 and swap an overdrive tranny, most likely a th700R4. What do you think, I only paid $900 for it, so I think its a good deal! I added the K&N filter. |

Re: New from Indiana
I can't see the pics, all I get are red X's, but that's not uncommon for me.
Welcome to the board anyway. New Albany is Southern Indiana, right? I'm in Tell City right now on a temporary assignment.

Re: New from Indiana
Greetings. Looks like you did pretty good for $900. I paid $1500 for a 86 GMC in similar shape right before Christmas. Mine has a tired 4.3 and a beat interior. Found mine on Ebay and drove 1/2 hr south of Louisville to pick it up.

Re: New from Indiana
Welcome from West Tennessee. You done good on your truck. Nice camaro too. But that 55 is my pick of the litter. I gave up on ever having another one and settled for a 72 nova. Good luck on your truck.

Re: New from Indiana
Its a custom PPG Bright Orange. The Paint is a single stage, but we cleared the crap out of it. The stripes are HOK Copper Penny Pearl.
The car has 3 coats of PPG Epoxy Primer, 6 coats of color, 5 coats or pearl for the stripes, and 6 coats of clear. The car had not been wet sanded or buffed in the pics. I am currently wet sanding it down to 2000 grit, and then I will be useing the System One buffing kit. Interior is solid black, for a good contrast. |
