Howdy from Big Sandy, Tennessee

My name is Ron Hall. I am 58 years old and a life long Chevy nut. I am a member of N.H.R.A. and still Drag Race a 1972 Nova with a 468 B.B. at Northwest Tennessee Motersports at Gleason Tn. My reason for being here is a 1972 C/10 lwb. It is a 307 V-8 3 on the tree with no options. No p/s, p/b, radio, lighter, it does have disk brakes on the front. It is orange in color with black seat and dash pad. I got it in Jan 2001. I first saw it and fell in love with it in 1991 when it came to my shop for a tune up. A friend had just got it after his father passed away. His father had bought it new 4/72 at Townsend Chevrolet, Parson Tn. As far as we can tell this truck has never been out of the state. I planned to do a frame off resto on it but have to much fun driving it to take it apart. Maybe now I will be prodded in to doing it. I will get my sub. sent tomorrow. Thanks, Ron. (Mr Round Tuit)

Re: Howdy from Big Sandy, Tennessee

Sorry for leaving you hanging. My computer picked a fine time to mess up. I'm on a old one that is slow but seems to work ok. I have to decide if I want to spend any more money on this or just get a new one. I will get pictures on as soon as my computer issues are solved. Thanks for the welcome. Ron (Mr Round Tuit)

Welcome from Western Kentucky. Always glad to see older guys on here being older than you myself. You never loose interest in these and the fun they can bring you. Again welcome. Hope you do better than me on the frame off. I started one on a 1970 Short bed but never got around putting it back together and gave it to one of my son-in-laws since I had three girls and no boys.

Thanks for the welcome. I checked out your site when I first found this one because of the wrench you have pictured under your name. I have one of them and a few other old wrenches that I never use. I'll see if I can round them up and send you a picture or two. If you see anything you can use let me know and I'll put them in a box and send them to you. All it will cost you is ups charge. If I can get rid of a lot of the stuff I've had for 40 years and not needed maybe I can find the stuff I bought last year and need now. I'll keep in touch. Ron (Mr Round Tuit)

Always glad to see other "mature" men on here. Do not know your age but if you have had those tools for 40 years, I would say you are around my age. Again, welcome. By the way, I have been to Big Sandy. It has been awhile back.

I'll be 59 on the 25th of this month. I started buying tools when I was 12. I ain't quit yet. I go to auctions as time permits and buy toolboxes with contents when they come up. You can get some real deals that way and lots of junk. If you get back this way stop in. We are a pretty friendly bunch here. the wife and I go to the mall and Sams in Pad. every 2 or3 months. Let me know where you're at and I'll try to stop in and say Hi. Thanks again for the welcome. Ron (Mr Round Tuit)

Re: Howdy from Big Sandy, Tennessee

Well, looks like I have you beat. I turned 62 Ocober 24th and now getting my SS check. I love retirement. I do sell carports and storage buildings from my home. The wife is still working even though she had retired from Western Baptise Hospital in Pauchah. She now works at Vanderbuilt in Nashville couple days a week. They pay good there. I figured on the SS check, I better get it while I can. With our Government, you never know when the funds might run out. Started buying tools when you were twelve? Wow, that is something. Just must have been in you blood.

Back in those days money was hard to come by. I picked cotton ($2.50 a hundred #'s) and saved up $25. I bought a Jap crap set of 1/2 inch drive sockets. I still have most of it. My dad had a few odd and end wrenches, screwdrivers, a hammer and a wire brush. I took our old reel type lawn mower apart and put it back every week until mom caught me. The peach tree in the back yard lost another limb over that. I did a lot of dumb things but learned how to make things work. I still get a kick out of taking a piece of junk and getting it to work. I don't own a boat, motorcycle, or anything like that. I bought tools and built my hot rod toys. Hope to meet you someday and show you my home made junk. Have a good day. Ron (Mr Round Tuit)
