That is my truck at the Vermont Jamboree. If anyone remembers my truck from before it used to have a plow on it. That bumper/brushguard came off a '68 in the junkyard. I also got the tow hooks to go with it from the same truck. They are not on yet.
Hope you like my ride.

Hey GMC71K20, what size tires do you run with those gears? Does your truck have the SM465 tranny?
My truck originally had 4.56 gears but swapped to 3.73. How is that lift you installed, what brand is it? I want to lift mine but am not sure about brand, and height. The Jamboree is a blast, lots of cool trucks and people. I just like relaxing, talking trucks, and drinking some barley sandwiches. It would be cool to have another GMC next to mine. Mine was the only one there last year.

I have 33x12.5 Kelly Springfields, I could of fit 35s and should of got 35s because on the highway I like to keep the revs at around 2500 or less, and at that speed everyone is passing me. I do have the sm465 and I love it. The Creeper gear is great even though I barely ever use it.
I bought my truck already lifted and I have no clue which brand it is but I've heard alot of good things about skyjacker. I'm gonna make a post asking which brand is the best because I plan on lifting my truck even more once the money is available. 4 inch isnt enough lift. I'm just a little bit higher than my dad's 1 ton dually with 31s so you can see why I want more lift. I know a guy that owns a 70 GMC with 6 inch lift with 35s and it looks great. I'd say go with at least a 6 inch lift. I think all you need to do with a 6inch lift is get a dropped pitman arm and longer e-brake line. How are the 3.73s compared to the 4.56s? The 4.56s with 31s must of made for some sweet burnouts. The main priority of this summer is to go to the jamboree and we'll def have to meet and show some 67-72 pride. I might also be bringing my truck to Walton NY this summer depending if I get a paint job. I have relatives that own land on a catskill mountain that has some old logging roads. How far are you from Oneonta? |

I live in Oneonta and have relatives in Walton.
when I had the 4.56s in it I didn't even use first gear and at 55mph the motor was screaming. I also could start my truck in 1st gear with the clutch out and it would not stall. I love the 3.73s though. When I put the gears in I planned to lift it 4in and put 33 or 34s. That would give me good cruising rpms. Right now my truck does 60 comfortabley. That is the factory color of my truck. It is a stock truck except for the motor/gears and new paint. We will have to meet for next year's jamboree. Let me know if you are going to be in my area.
