Looking good, but I noticed one thing about the rack. You need to have the arms of the rack parallel to the lower control arm as much as possible. If they aren't your going to get bad bump steer. If you hit a big bump in the road you better hold on for the ride.

At ride level they are actually pretty close to parallel. I had an issue with the lower control arm hitting the anchor bolt of the rack. If I get to much bump steer I will have to modify the lower arm and move the rack down more.

That looks very familiar. There is a way to cut one where there isn't large gaps to fill though... Looks good anyway.

Chris what tips do you have for me on cutting a 2nd one with out all the gaps as they are a very time consueming to fill I may have this one sold to a guy at work and I have another crossmember that needs to replace this one... Need to get a few pics from friday loaded up,just have to make it all look pretty and should be good to go..

Great news after 2 months of being on the back burner its finally done and I just bought the por-15 for it should have it done saturday maybe I ll do it beofre I rewire the truck..

Did you experience any of the clearance issues that some have had w/this mod? I know there was no way a 1.25" notch would work w/my parts combo. I started w/a 1 3/8" notch & have clearance now that it has been 'shimmed' back to equal 1.125".... but even that required serious grinding.

I'm curious what parts combos allow the more aggressive amount of drop. It looks like you didn't have to trim the front lip of the c-member. Could you list what parts combo your using?

Mine is:
68 frame
68 man steer gear box
68 man steer pitman & idler
73-up outer tie-rods
71-72 inner tie-rods
72 drag link
75 c.member w/the larger dia. u-bolts/holes
73-up drop spindles
ART arms

SCOTI Sorry to confuse you all I have done was to bolt it to the spare frame I had to make sure it was still wide enough and that the bottom bolt holes lined up.. Has anyone else had the problems that scoti is talking about???

I sectioned the entire c.member like you did.

I did mine 1.125 and I had a ton of grinding to make everything clear and its still close.

You got that right! But . . .... that extra 1.125" will make for a nicer ride around town. My truck was fine for the daily grind but it was close to the bumpstops & let you know about it on larger dips/bumps in the road; plus I sure was nervous if someone needed to borrow it.

I don't plan to go any lower, I just wanted the additional road clearance the notch offers.
