rear hatch

Who sells the rear hatch lock/ handle for a ’72 blazer? I can’t seem to find one. LMC and Chevy Duty did not have them.

Re: rear hatch

I think that may be a part that's not re-made.

Re: rear hatch

Tractor Supply sells a T handle for things like a garage door that is just about a perfect fit for under $10.

Re: rear hatch

Blazer parts are the ones that most unlikely to get repop, your only way is to find a very nice used one, but they're as common as hen's teeth.

Re: rear hatch

I got mine at Home Depot about 8.00
and cut off the excess with a hack saw.
Works Great.

Re: rear hatch

The handles sold by vendors are the same as home depot etc. the are universal garage door handles no matter what they tell you. there's OEM and garage door thats it. I have been on a quest for a keyed oem for over a year now. Saw a NOS on ebay went for $ 220. I didn't want one that bad.

Re: rear hatch

My used hatch did not come with a key. ignition key does not even insert, let alone work. I was close to taking lock assembly to a smith to have a key made. This seems pricey, and I know on my 73 that w/o the key I had to drill the old cylinder out. Hard to believe they could stick clay or something in there and reverse Angie a key, but I suppose that is what makes a lock smith so trained.

Anyway, I now lean to wards a trip to home depot for a t-handle.

I love this site.

Yep, but then I got a new to me 72, and all heck gets drug up.

Better than a new thread.

BTW, very happy w/the home depot T-handle. Had to saw off about 1", and drill the cotter pin hole, but best 30 bones I ever saved.

Cheers
