What did you get done?

Looks like Ken is MIA tonight, so hopefully he won't mind if we start without him since it's getting late.

What did everyone get done this weekend?

Me, I got a lot done this week...but the weekend was pretty unproductive. I have the entire rear suspension tore out of my truck. I brought my differential in to get repaired, turns out the only reusable components in it are the ring and pinion, and the posi case itself...EVERYTHING else needs to be replaced. Looks like the burn out contest damaged more than I thought. I also removed the overload leafs from my spring pack, and got the Cal-tracs mounted up (as much as I can with no diff). Should get the diff back mid week, will post pics on the next edition of WDYGD.

Re: What did you get done?

had a trip with the truck club to Mount Pleasent Winery in Augusta Missouri on Saturday. It was about 140 mile round trip for me. We met at a commuter lot & drove the 20 miles together to the winery. had a good time.
The trucks MPG went up by 2 MPG with the new tires, & Im sure the new paint helped to, less resistance. I got 12.3 MPG.
Today I cut grass & weed wacked, & cleaned the work van. John

Re: What did you get done?

Bought a 100-amp alternator, took the 63-amp out only to discover the new one ddidin't fit. So I returned the 100-amp very grudgingly to the idiots who sold it to me (thank you Advance Auto Parts!!), and I was stuck without my truck Saturday night. Rolled the Minivan, so at least I saved my precious gas. Put the worn out 63-amper back on there, broke the tabs on the power plug so it's held in by a wish and a prayer, the bearings in it aren't doing too good (read: it sounds like a vaccuum cleaner sucking dirt), so I'm praying this pile of crap gets me until I do something else....

My 6x9s, amplifier, and wiring kit are do in on Tuesday. Gonna buy some pre-made boxes for them because I have neither the time nor the inclination to build my own and cover them.

Ever get the feeling that NOTHING is easy, NOTHING works or goes as planned, and you're just wasting your time?

So, pretty much fed up with Ol' Red right now...

Otherwise, I attended a wedding for my cousin, I cleaned some house with the family, and I watched the NASCAR race sunday. I hate TMS...

Re: What did you get done?

well, nothing to the truck again, friday night i went to the drag races, first pro street night for the year, the furry vega off of Pinks was there, it hooked hard, and i believe it broke something, saturday mornin i went to the southwest street rod nationals, then went and worked a little after that, then today(sunday) i went to church, came home, rode the bicycle(just a lil bit) , i forgot to mention, i met somebody famous this weekend(ok, partially famous), can you guess?

Re: What did you get done?

I prepped, painted, stripped, re-prepped, & re-painted a few parts. I'm not real happy w/the results so I'll prob strip them again this week & do it over w/some different paint (painting in the driveway sucks).

While things were drying, I went ahead & pulled the front suspension off my Beater to test fit my 1.5" notched crossmember. Good thing I did before welding everything up. It seems there are some clearance issues. So for now, the notched crossmember is back out for some trimming & the stock one is bolted back in.

Re: What did you get done?

I had a really busy weekend. For the first time in 7 weeks I was not on call so I prepped the truck and sealed it today. Painted and undercoated my inner fenders and did some fitment checks with the new wheels. Fit really well and look great. Then I did a little detail work on the fire wall, installed my NOS wiper motor and replaced the CV joints in the NEW Drive shaft. WOW it's nice when things finally start looking like their coming together, check out the before the day started and after...HaHa!!

Re: What did you get done?

Still working on the blazer. It's been guiving me fits with the starter/flexplate issue. Seems like the starter doesn't mate up to the flexplate right even when shimmed. Shimming makes it worse. Looks like I'll be working on trying a different starter to see if that helps. I got more fuel in in and got some old wire plugs from the truck to put on the blazer engine to make it at least all the same kind. Also bought some cheap lugnuts to make all the studs have them. When I get it running I don't want the blazer losing any wheels

Re: What did you get done?

I had a really busy week trying to get caught up from my trip to Atlanta. I think I'm almost caught up, but now I have to make a trip to Rockwall for a final check on my 77. It should be coming home very soon...

Saturday night I went to watch my daughters volleyball team in the finals of a 4 stop series. They finished 2nd out of 60 teams in their division. Not bad, but they finished 1st last year, and were hoping for a repeat.

About the only thing truck related was buying a new set of tires for my daily driver. I managed to get 65k out of another set of Goodyear Eagle's. I let my buddy at the tire store talk me int to a set of Cooper H/T plus this time. They are really quiet and smooth riding. I hope they wear as well as all the Egale's I have had.

Saturday and Sunday morning was spent working in the yard. I added a couple of new palm trees to my backyard two weeks ago. It was time to cut the string on one of them and let the fronds down.

Came home tonight and started watching a movie with my family. Fell asleep and I'm just now getting a post in on here. Thanks for getting this started Jeff...

Yard pics...

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday I pretty much did nothing.

Sunday I helped Jess wash the truck and then we went to her parents on Lake Granbury and rode on her dads Skea Doo boat for about a half hour. We had brats and dogs on the grill.

Re: What did you get done?

Friday April 7th: Picked up the rebuilt 4L80E from the trans shop. Fuel lines and fittings arrived from Pure Choice Plumbing.

Saturday April 8th: Dropped the tranny off and started working on the wiring... AGAIN! started routing the fuel lines/fitting and bending up a EVAP line.
Sunday April 9th: put the tranny in to check clearance for the front fuel lines. Now I need the F-body manifolds to verify they will work, so I am stuck here. Still working on the PCM wiring, got all the harness wires figured out and I am now working on the rest of the lines that I have to find.

The other pics are under the Pictures Post I started here:

Re: What did you get done?

Not much truck related. I installed a new gas tank/sending unit in my 65 Mustang, also put new felt strips on the doors and put new convertible top hooks. Played with that car most of Saturday. Sunday, finished tearing down my new 454 to drop off at the machine shop on Monday.

First off, congrats to you and your daughter 78chevstepside.

I just got back from "Kool April Nites" car show and cruise in Redding, Ca. Although it rained a bit, overall it was a good show. Various years of Chevy trucks were there and looking quite spiffy. I took a few pictures and hope to get them posted soon. I can't wait for next years show.
Upon arrival home I couldn't just relax so I managed to get my Suburban stuck in the mud in my sideyard. I was tring to move it further back into the yard to gain access to a pile I have to take to the dump. To make a long story short, it took me the rest of the night to get the damn thing out of the mud. On a plus side I found out that the burb has a limited slip diff.
