72 Jimmy and 72 SWB truck Same Frame?

I found a guy selling a pretty rusty 72 Jimmy 4 x 4 with all drivetrain components still together.

My quesion it two:

1) is the blazer/jimmy frame the same as a SWB truck?

2_) assuming it is not can you swap 4 x 4 components over to the 2WD SWB chevy/GMC frame? or perhaps even to a Suburban frame?

thanks,
Thomas

No, But It Can Be Made To Work If You Are Into Fabrication

Blazer frame is 104" Wheelbase, A SWB Truck frame is 115"

Re: 72 Jimmy and 72 SWB truck Same Frame?

Since we are talking about frames I have a question. How much difference is there between a 69-72 Blazer frames and a 73-82? I realize that the 2wd 69-72's were coil spring in the rear while the 73-82's are leaf. Beyond that, how far off is the wheel base?

What I'm getting at here is how much fab work would it take to put a 1st gen BLazer body on a 2nd gen frame?

According to SLOSH.COM the wheelbase is 106.5" vs. the 104" of 1st gens

Re: 72 Jimmy and 72 SWB truck Same Frame?

Hmmm? So the 2nd gen is 2.5" longer in wheel base. That's not much...

Might check with Mudder, his truck is sitting on a newer frame.

Hmmm? I'll give Mudder a look up and see what he says.
