Factory Starter for 454
Hello, looking to switch out my hitachi-style hi-torque for a stock model, since they all seem to burn out after 2 yrs from combination of use and header heat, even with shield. Anybody got a recommendation? Otherwise I'll go to checker and get one with lifetime replacement that can burn up all it wants.... PS if anyone knows whether I can do this without unbolting the hooker headers, that would help too...
Any Help Appreciated....

I use one of the new delco permanent magnet gear reduction units that GM makes for the new 502 big block. Its an actual delco starter. Not some chinese made crap. Its an awesome starter and I cant say enough good things about it. Plenty of header clearance even with a bog block. My dads been running one for a year and a half . No problems with a 454. I picked it up for under a hundred bucks brand new from

Thanks for your ideas, guys.... I thought I was getting short life, 5 in 3 yrs, man it's like changing the oil!!!
P.S. I mis-identified my exhaust as Hooker, they're actually Hedmann long-tube also...
