Need photo of installed power steering Pump?
I know strange question but I need to see what it looks like, if someone has photos?
Reason: My 70 GMC Sub has had a wobbeling pump and spotty power steering ever since I got it. In getting it ready for inspection it needed to be fixed, So we investigated today and found that there was one bolt broken one stripped and helicoiled and the one attached to the motor mount was about to fall out. Further investigation revealed that it looks as if the pump either is not the origional one or the lines ahve been swapped over from another truck. FYI sub has been lowered and converted to front disc brakes so it is possible that the lines came from a donor mid 70 truck too. Point is I had to do a load of work to get it to fit and bolt back up only to find that the pulleys are not ligned up correctly. If any one has a photo of what the correct pump for a 70 gmc with a 350 looks like< i would appreciate it.

Re: Need photo of installed power steering Pump?
Kevin- that looks exactly like the pump and set up I have with the Two bolts in front. (I had to drill and tap one broken bolt out of the block and the top one was helicoiled already.
They are different on the back bracket. My bracket is much thicker where it bolts to the motor mount. IIRC it has about a 1/2 inch thick mount thickness and it is two pieces sandwiched together, if that makes sense? unfortuantly no camera so No photos last night. Will try to get some today /Monday. We couldn't get a bolt back in the rear mount but we did get a stud in there and then mounted the unit on the stud. Which was better than the PO as there was nothing there at all. Thanks for the Photos. Thomas

Re: Need photo of installed power steering Pump?
Kevin,
Nice job on taking the pictures! Kevin's pump setup is a 71 or 72 with the stamping, (item 5 in the schematic). The 69 and 70 trucks had a cast item 5 so it would be a lot thicker. Here is the schematic for the 71-72 style pump brackets. Jim |

Re: Need photo of installed power steering Pump?
I think it's time to mention again that there are three styles of Power Steering pumps for these trucks, less BB stuff which would make 4,..but heres a pic of three that can fit 68-72 typically.
So just getting a pump can still leave you short the correct crank pulley and perhaps water pump pulley.

Your photos make it appear that my pump came from something else and was installed on my truck. The pullys are off, just a slight bit. But from the other post it looks like the bracket is correct, perhaps the pump itself was swapped out. Thanks for the great photos and information. Lucky for me the belt is staying on for now. Might have to search for something else down the line but right now just trying to get it back on the road and pass inspection. What I have done should last( I hope), it was working for some time before I got it. Thanks.
