Upper Control Arm Question
I have a 68 SWB with drums up front. I started to rebuild the front crossmember and suspension components from a 69 crossmember that I acquired and have already cleaned and painted the upper control arms, as well as removed the ball joints. I just got a 79 1/2 ton with discs and the 69 upper control arms look to be the same as the 79 upper control arms, but I'm not sure if the balljoints are the same. I just don't want to have to clean/paint and remove balljoints from the 79 if I can use the 69's UCA's. Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Upper Control Arm Question
My guess is that you are swappin in disc brakes? If so, use all the steering linkage from the 79,including the center link & order the ball joints/ tierods (inners, outers,& sleeves)for the 79. The 79 ball joints will fit the 69 arms , (top & bottom both). The only issue you may have is with the steering stops being a tad different(a little work with a grinder should solve). Bolt your 79 spindles & brakes on & enjoy your new found stopping power...... L
