Rear Suspension on my '64 short fleet
Hi, my truck is lowered 5" in the rear i believe, it has 3" drop coils and 2" blocks. It was already lowered when i bought it over a year ago, and i've never had any problems. But now I've actually been using it to carry **** around, and it bottoms out all the time. It doesnt have a c-notch, so there is only about 2" between the rear end and the frame. Obviously i need a c-notch, i was planning on getting the CPP one, but was also wondering if i needed to relocate the shocks and get new ones. I'd like to keep it to a minimum cuz i'm in college and have no money, but i want to do it right also. The previous owner was a pretty good do-it-yourself guy, so when he lowered the thing, he didnt use an adjustable track bar, but it looks like he cut and welded a stock one to the right size. *I don't think* i've had any problems with the rear end moving side to side, but is there a way to check for this? Hopefully i dont need a new bar....
On a side note, i am planning on starting to tow a boat (20') with my truck probably next year, would my truck work assuming a got the c-notch, shocks, etc. all figured out, or am I going to need bags too? Sorry for the long post but thanks in advance for all the help... Nate |

i would say the best way to do it, is to get rid of you coils and blocks and get yourself the cpp notches and a set of bags. you can run some inflation valves and just leave it at your drive height, then when you hook up your boat just bump up your air pressure.
depending on where you get your bags and notches you could bag it and notch if for $200-300, |

You really should get a c-notch and the cpp is probably the best out there. From what I hear, about to order mine pretty quick. As far as shocks go I am not for sure on that. I know that 4" with a spring you would probably need some, but since it is 3" spring and 2" block you should be ok.
As far as bags go it is up to you.

If you decide on a bolt in c-notch. I have one I never installed and would be willing to part with for actual shipping +$10-$20.

Its in a box in my shed (230 miles away). But I did just realize that you have a '64. I believe it would work, but I don't know if your frame is bent the same as the 67-72.
If you do want it, I don't get home until 12/15 to send it to you and get actual pictures. I'll try and rustle up some pics of alike notches. Sorry for the delay in pictures.
