22's on my 65 C10
Has anybody put bigger rims on their 60-66 C10 , without having to change suspension or anything like that. I can get a great deal on some 22's for painting a buddiy's car.I just don't want to get into changing too much . Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
I'd agree, just like the one from custom classic and sport truck, looks really goofy w/ huge wheels and not lowered. They just stand out a lot w/ a sore thumb, but shouldn't have to change much

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
Why will it kill the ride quality? How can you assume that it will ride bad without knowing what size the tires are? Yes if they are 30- 35 series tires they will ride like crap, but that has nothing to do with them being 22's. They would ride just as bad if they were 35 series 15's.
drewmangoo- what size are the tires? The overall height will be a huge factor in how much trouble you will have making them fit, as well as how much backspace the wheels have.

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
your truck, your choice. Thats the nice thing about fixing trucks and cars up, you get to decide on what to do. I would do a test fit first, check for any clearance problems. Yes if you go with 30 or 35's your ride will be bad, but if you go with a 40 profile youl have to go with a bigger tire, giving you a taller ride ,and posibly a rubbing issue, and some modifications may be needed.
22's are going to look huge on your truck, I hope you have power steering .Also make sure the bore will fit and that the offset is ok. Sure youll piss some people off, but its your truck. I ve done up a few cars, and always had people telling me " I would have done this, or that to it" or " Why did you put wire wheels on it" My reply was and always will be: When you pay for my parts I'll build it your way Make sure you post pics when you do it. I think 22's would be sick !!! Depending on the offset there WILL be rubbing issues. Check out Porterbuilts links...he's got them laying frame on 22's....but his stance is 4" narroweer in the front...and running an S-10 4x4 rear axle...which is narrower as well. Two words for you...... "Tape Measure" John

For what it's worth, my ride is not that bad with my 255/35/22's. Obviously its not a Lexus on 225/60's, but I've been in way worse. Do what you feel, get what you like, and the naysayers.

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
My truck already sits pretty low. I was just taking the 22's ,because I was getting them for $200.00, plus painting my buddy's car. So I'll see how they look on my truck & post some pictures. Chief Rocka , let me gwt those white walls those are cool as hell.

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
I don't know what your drop is, but I am running a 3.5/5 static with 20x8.5 BC's and 255x40x20 front and 255x45x20 rear. 86' chevy C10 front end with 72' 12 bolt rear. No rubbing issues. you could do a 2.5" drop spindle and 4 or 5 in the rear with no problems running 22's. I agree with others if you go air, and want to lay it out, will require more engineering like Porterbuilt designs.
Oh, ya, Thanks for your service to our country! (I Retired from the Air Force (4 years ago) 21 year career).

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
I think it looks good with the 22's on that car... The good thing about wheels is you can bolt them on and take them off and changes the whole look... its not perminant, so whats the big deal

Re: 22's on my 65 C10
Or the "Dirty South" !!! JK....I went to Charlotte N. Carolina, and thats all I saw were rides jacked up on big ass rims...mostly box Chevys and Fords. I even saw a newer Mercedes 600 series with modified suspenson on like 22's or something..... GARBAGE !!!! :rndll: Anyway...on your truck would be cool.....JUst measure carefully, and modify accordingly !!! John
