Re: Hard top rear mount.
ya i figured locking end to end would be better than just one spot in the middle of the gate... plus i think thats one reason my hatch is splitting in two.....

Re: Hard top rear mount.
Mine is hard to budge when it's locked, but the gate can still be opened
even with the tailgate strip attached if enough raw force is applied to it.

Re: Hard top rear mount.
My '70 Jimmy has the rear brackets. I believe it came with a double wall top as it has a single now and the bedside top holes don't line up. It was only held on by the windshield brackets and those rear brackets.

Re: Hard top rear mount.
My 70 Jimmy with a double wall top has never had those brackets, and never had any problems staying closed. She just got a rattle to it when those snubbers wore out.

Re: Hard top rear mount.
It may be all you need, But my double wall is a whole lot sturdier with the side rail bolts in.

Re: Hard top rear mount.
I just put my top on about a week ago and it does add extra support. My drivers door that always sticks doesn't with the top bolted on all the way around.
