On my 63 the vin is on the windshield pillar when you open the drivers door. I can't help you with the motor. A k10 is 4wd a c10 is 2wd

Re: Vin and I6 Motor Identification HELP!!!!!
If it's the original motor then it's not a 235. '62 was the last year for the 235. The side cover is what will really tell you. If the side covers ar like 6" tall then it's a 292. If they're like 4" then it's either a 230 or 250. The 292's also have one motor mount further forward then the other, I believe the passenger's side is further forward IIRC.

Re: Vin and I6 Motor Identification HELP!!!!!
Unless someone went through a lot of trouble, it is not a 235. As mentioned before, they quite making them in 62. As another mentioned, if the side doors are over 4" then it is a 292. I would suspect it is a 250. There is a engine code by the distributor on the machined area just to the rear of it. You should be able to give that ID# to a dealer and find out what year and cid it is, although I think the year is the first to numbers followed by the first letter. Also you can get the block casting # on the passenger side of the block just under the rear sidedoor, and go here to find what it is. Just to the left of this page you will see a list, click on casting #s and you will probably find a match. Hope this helps. http://www.inliners.org/ The only problem with block casting #'s is that some 230 and 250 shared the same block. The only difference is stroke and pistons.

Re: Vin and I6 Motor Identification HELP!!!!!
its a 250 i have found out thanks to all of you for the help. Im used to the 67-72 trucks and (Very Hard To Find) 1962-1969 L60 Nissan Patrols.
I Traded a 1984 chevy 4 door dulley for this 66 c10 b/c its all there with extra parts and want to keep it all stock as possible. I like the 1960-1966 is the chrome custom back cab covers which the guy i got it from gave me 3 sets of them in old gm boxes and a set of door sills and a bunch of other parts. |
