Re: Headlight Relay Install
I don't have a picture, and couldn't get one to turn out very well if I tried, but if this explanation doesn't do you, let me know and I will try.
I mounted mine (along with two fan relays) on the back side of the core support on the driver side down by where the inner fender bolts to the core support. It was a tight fit, but it was out of the way. There was a flat spot that fit all four relays nicely. |

Re: Headlight Relay Install
I too don't have a picture, but I mounted mine on the core support, behind the battery tray, and with the battery in place, you can't see them. I also made a plastic mounting the plate that all of the relays are screwed onto and then used one of the existing bolt holes on the core support to mount it.

John
How did you run your wires on yours?

Re: Headlight Relay Install
I ran all of the wiring so that it looked like it was stock using the wire gutter along the top of the core support.
I will get some photos tonight when I get home.... |

Re: Headlight Relay Install
Here's how I've mounted mine. Looks like a mess that I need to cleanup.

Here are the pictures of mine. They are hard to see, but hopefully you get the idea...

John
Yep I see those. Got some more questions for you. Is your wiring new? Also have you noticed if that wiring gets any hotter since you are pushing more through it?

Re: Headlight Relay Install
For the heck of it I took my multi meter out and measured the voltage on the driver side headlight while on high beam I got 13 volt reading from it. And 14.10 out of the alternator. Also I did install a new headlight and engine wiring harness about 6 months ago and I noticed when I installed it that the wires seemed to be 1 guage thicker.

Re: Headlight Relay Install
I used the relay box out of a dodge dynasty and used the installed relays. I mounted it in place of the voltage regulator, it blends in well with the core support and has spots for 9 relays.

Re: Headlight Relay Install
skokie, I did use a new wiring harness, E-Z Wire, and instead of the wires from the lightswitch/high-lowbeam to the lights, those wires run to the new relays, and then I had to add new wires from the relays back to the lights.
I have not really tested whether they get hot or not... but I am running a bigger gauge wire from relays to the lights.. |
