Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
Valleycustom,
Porter mentioned you had gotten a Dropmember from him & it was to be installed in a truck that had a big block. Have you made any progress on this particular project? I was curious about the R&P vs. the balancer & headers.

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
Dang this thread is dusty!!! Yeah the frame is finished. I'll take some pics. Its just sitting at the shop right now getting dusty. I'm going to get the bed mounted here in the next couple of weeks and im going to bomb it black and lay down some pin stripes. I still have to send the chassis out to powder coat. I'm working on another chassis right now that's all C4. I'll have to get a thread going on that one also.

Did you have to reem the C10 spindle to fit the Mustan ball joint? If the mustang Ball joint is smaller in diameter, what did you do to the C10 spindle to make it work?? Reason I am asking is I was thinking of doing a similar thing with mine to reduce some weight in the front. Mine is a drag racing application. I figure since you already made it work, your advise would save me both time and money I am sure.. Thanks in advance. Shaun |

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
I reamed the upper to fit the MII. The bottom was a little more involved. I made a bung that had the correct tapper for the lower balljoint then I machined the lower bj hole so I can press the bung in and weld it in place.

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
So you welded the bung to the cast spidle or to the ball joing shaft?
I'm assuming you tiged the bung, did you preheat the spindle and cool it in an oven to keep the weld from craking (if it was welded to the cast spindle? |

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
Thanks JR.. I haven't tiged nor welded cast (properley). Bolted a vise down and welded it to a bench when I first started laying nice mig beads. But it cracked
Have any interest in doing another set of spindles? |

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
New location from the last one I visited as well. Guess I'm going to have to get directions to the new place before I head over to peep the project. Maybe I'll bring my C10 over there and we can have a projectfest and get some work done on both.
