New shoes for the Blazer

I finally got some decent wheels and tires for the Blazer. The PO had some 15x7 rallys with offroad tires on the back and skinny tiger paws on the front. I rustled up some 15x8s and threw down on the radial T/As...what do you think?

Next on the list is shackles, blocks and spindles to get her closer to mother earth. Hey, its a 2wd so lower is better right?

Looks great. Where in the world did you find a clean 73 2wd Blazer. The body on that thing looks to be rust free.

Probably a Texas truck. Are you aware that you will have to mod the filler neck for the shackles to clear?

Yeah, now that you mention it I did notice that when I replaced the fill hose last month. Maybe I should just go with a flip kit? Ive heard thats a rough ride though.

I bought the truck from a fella in North Alabama who used it to take the kids to the lake during the summer. It has its fair share of rust in all the usual places. The drivers side floor next to the kick panel needs replacing and there is bubbling above the rear wheelwells. Im putting all my $$ into the '70 right now and im up in the air about working on the Blazer after that. I may just sell it to buy some TT2s and a stereo for the '70 but who knows...its starting to grow on me.

Once you drive it with the top off you'll be hooked.

I was just thinking that the other day. I was getting myself worked up thinking about all the stuff I need to do to make her a decent street machine (suspension, engine/trans, exhaust, interior, stereo, body work) and then as soon as I thought about the taking the top off and hitting the beach I found a happy place!

Re: New shoes for the Blazer

oh yeah Pensacola beach with the top off (of the truck) cruising up and down looking for a spot to jump out and take a swim... about halfway to Navarre beach is a nice quiet beach area.. then come back to hooters on the beach and get a juicy burger...

Yeah today was a good beach day for sure but the wife was at work and I had the 1 year old and sidework to do. Im definately hitting the beach next weekend come rain or shine!

Im going to try spindles and new shocks in the front for sure but im not sure about what to do with the back. I think someone here told me that mid 90s S10 Blazer 4x4 springs fit and will give you a bit of a drop?

Re: New shoes for the Blazer

Ive already got the drop spindles and springs for my '70 just sitting there...its sooo tempting to slap them on the Blazer and see what it looks like!

Im not sure exactly how to lower the rearend without getting myself into some fab work. Like I said earlier I think mid '90s S10 4x4 springs will give me a few inches. After that Im not sure what to do.

Oh it will work im just worried about ride quality. As it is my kidneys are killing me (im sure new shocks and springs will help) and I dont want to drop the truck and make things too much worse. Any ideas, hints, tips?

Re: New shoes for the Blazer

I`m not sure the axle-flip makes for a harsh ride.Am I wrong? Are there lowered leafs like ECE sells for the earlier models?Custom leafs?Spring shop de-arch?

275/60/15

You can get them from discounttire.com shipped to your door for $92 per tire. Cheapest I found them in my area was $103 plus tax.
