Grant GT Horn Hookup

When I got my '71 Blazer, the horn did not work. It has one of the Grant GT steering wheels installed w/ a horn button. I have checked around under the hood, and I cannot find a horn installed anywhere. How would I go about hooking up a horn? I haven't even gotten into a steering column before, so let me know what other information you need. I can take all the pictures you could possibly want, just let me know.

Also, i got some 4degree shims installed up front to lessen the driveshaft angle, and it gave me negative camber (so obviously it likes to wander a bit). However, it now turns right when the steering wheel is straight. In order to go straight, i have to have the wheel turned like in the picture. Is there something wrong, or is this to be expected?

Thanks

Re: Grant GT Horn Hookup

I'm trying to post a pic of the fuse box, but I keep getting this message:
IMG_6272.jpg:
The Dimension limits for this filetype are 642 x 0. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 1536 x 2048.

Any ideas? a picture that's zero pixels tall isn't very useful

Re: Grant GT Horn Hookup

The horn should be on the back of the radiator support below the left headlight bucket.

What the error message is telling you is that you are only permitted a maximum of 642 pixels wide. If you resize your image proportionally to 642 pixels wide and keep it under the maximum file size limit (I think it is 100KB) you'll be able to post it. You could also use a image posting service like Photobucket.com and you won't have to worry about resizing.

Re: Grant GT Horn Hookup

Here are some wire diagrams someone scanned and posted a while back.

Re: Grant GT Horn Hookup

There, resized it. Its really weird because i have put up half a dozen pics from the same camera without resizing.
Anyway, I'm heading out to see if there is a horn where you said (chance is no). How would i go about testing to see if the horn button is actually wired in? Get someone to hold the horn down and use a multitester where?
Thanks

Re: Grant GT Horn Hookup

Looks like your rig has seen some rewiring in the past (Is that speaker wire on the right?).

Follow the wires using the diagram. There is also a horn relay the wiring goes through before reaching the horn.

I'd say the first step is to see if the wires and the horn exsist. Pull your steering wheel and see if there are wires to the horn button. If so, trace them to see if/where they terminate. Use a mulitmeter to see if you have a solid wire from the horn button to the fuse box, fuse box to the relay, relay to the horn.

You can buy better versions of the wire diagrams though companies like LMC and Classic Parts of America. Someone was selling color versions on the board too so you might check with your favorite board vendors.
