Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
I am needing a RH bedside for my 1981 Blazer. Has anybody ever used an aftermarket bedside that they make for these Trucks?

Re: Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
i'v replaced lot's of them....you need to look close at the fit around the gas filler and probably shave the metal so you can get a tighter fit, but keep steping back and looking down the side of the panel to ensure it's strate, and that your not warping the panel.
if your truck has no gas hole on that side, you probably will have to trim, or shave the botomlip were it fit's at the iner weel well......hope that helps. |

Re: Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
If you have installed reproduction and GM panels, is there very much difference in fit and quality. My RH side bedside it the worst one. The inner "cab corner" piece is rotted, as well as some of the inner structure and the rear cab mount.

Just did the right side on mine last week.It fit great and was fairly ease to install
We never had any problems with the fuel door.It took around 10 hours to get it done and it is the first time i have ever done this.sorry for the crappy pics but they are off my cell phone Last edited by longhorn71; 07-05-2007 at 09:59 PM. |

Re: Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
I called a local body shop today and they wanted $750 for replace both bedsides in my Blazer. The LH side I have is a NOS piece. The RH will probably have to be an aftermarket piece.

Re: Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
I had the both sides done on mine with aftermarket. Half sides, from the crease down because the tops were good.
The body guy said they were good quality and he had no problem. See pics on Oct 2004 totm. The pass side panel had no gas door so we added a door from a Lumina van, real easy. Doug |

Re: Anybody ever used aftermarket Blazer bedsides?
Well I ordered a bedside from the local auto body distributor and recieved it this morning just to look at. The outer panel is definately alot thinner metal than what the originals had. Some of the areas on my Blazer now that is rusted does not come on the new bedsides. I need the lower extension panel that goes on the bottom of the RH panel, and guess what...it's discontinued from GM and there are none to be found on the parts locator system.
