Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
Guys and girl,
My truck is in dire need of body bushings. I need to know how bad are the bolts to remove from the body, and if one breaks how F'd am I? I do not have to have to pull the cab off completely right now. What is your guy's input on this? Ryan

Re: Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
If the back mount bolts break, you can cut holes in the inside of the cab to get to the nuts. On the back ledge behind the seat. Replace then tack weld over the holes you cut.
Front mounts are only in the cab support. You could just cut away enough to get them out and then buy a slip on cab mount and weld it in. Both are worst case scenario's, If PB blaster and heat doesnt work. |

Re: Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
the nuts sometimes end up moving with the bolt. PB Blaster heat air tools and like the guy who first replied said

Re: Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
This is related but I am a little ahead Ryan in doing this. How do you take apart the mounts to replace them with the poly mounts that I already have? I will hopefully get the cab mounts off this week. I need the heavy metal cups. Are those metal sleves just pressed down onto the rubber? I will take a picture of what I am talking about tonight and post it up tomorrow.

Re: Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
I'll take a torch to one tonight and see if I can get it apart. Seems like a silly design to me! Especially since they are all rusted together! I'll get a picture tonight and post it up.

Re: Body Bushing/Mount Replacement
The rubber is just pressed onto the metal sleeves, you should be able to pull it off.
If you pop the captured nut from the body, you are going to have to cut a hole in the floor to weld it back on.. I had to do this to my Jimmy.... I think I have some pics.
