I got a fix it ticket
For my truck being lifted without mud flaps.
So I have until Dec 31st to get mud flaps on my truck. Does anyone know of a good place to get them without getting too expensive? I need them for front and back and I'm seeing them for about $30 per wheel! Way more than I thought they'd cost.

I would go to Schucks or the like and buy some of the small mud flap that are like 9*12, all black (kinda like a payphone phonebook cover material) They aren't so big and ugly and they fit the definition within the law of "mudflaps." I think I paid about 10 a pair for mine and put them on all four corners of my 84 k10 to protect the rockers from rock chips (back when my paint was worth protecting!)

You could also try JC Whitney. They're usually good with cheaper prices and so-so quality on stuff like that.

this reminds me of the tickets my friend got last year.
it was right after he got his licence and he was driving his 56' stepside, and he gets pulled over and given a ticket for no headlights(as in just big holes in the spot) and another ticket for no working windshield wipers. now, this happened at 4:00 pm during the day with the sun out and dry weather |

mudflaps
i would almost say make your own.. decent rubber cut like mudflaps bolted to your inner fender will work.. i have also seen guy put J hooks under the truck and small eye hooks on the flaps to hold them up while wheeling so they dont get in the way and hold mud..... i dont think mudflaps work all that well unless they are like motor homes have.. width of vehicle and from body to road.. just a flap hanging there isnt going to stop much.. that the fender and body cant stop.. i cant say that i see many 4x4 trucks around here that have mudflaps.....

I say the cops are really searching for things. What a bunch of crap.
Reminds me of when I went to Pigeon Forge, TN., for a truck show. The cops up there were writing tickets left and right for the guys with a rear roll pan and no bumper. Most of the ones they were getting were the mini truck guys. I think they get their thrill out of this stuff. It would seem to me there is more important things they should be wasting their time on.

Try Wal-Mart for the mud flaps. Plus most psrts stores have them. Also check any local big truck places they may have some to fit.
But I agree that it's BS.

flaps
see once again law enforcement has nothing better to do than to harass people for piddling little details.
In any event most chain auto parts stores or Walmart has cheapo mud flaps that can be used. One time what i did was to fashion the shape i wanted out of cardboard and then transferred the pattern to a trailer truck mudflap that i found in my collection of junk and used that all it took was a couple of cuts from a sheetrock knife. lol im sure you could find plenty of them layin around on the roads in the cold weather lately i used self tapping screws to attach them to the wheel wells of my truck

Well, if you go to TN for a truck show, be prepared to see a ticket if you don't have a rear bumper. They will also tell you if your truck didn't have one from the factory, it is your place to put one.

I made my own mudflaps. I've got no bed and got a fix it ticket for no flaps.
I went down to the hardware store, 8"x 24" piece of sheet steel. Then I bought a 6' x 1" piece of square iron. Cut the sheet metal in half. Cut the length of iron to be equal distance from rim to rim. Drilled 2 holes on each end all the way through the iron, drilled 2 holes in the top of each piece of sheet metal. Bolted the sheet metal pieces to the iron. Painted it all gloss black, and used tie wire to secure it to the frame. Not a bad job, looks good and passed the ticket. I don't think you'd need the length of iron though. Just giving you an idea.
