rusted out under sill plate......
ok yall, my rockers are fine, but my trucks rusted out on both sides, that spot right under the door sill plate where the rubber seal fits on. i dont want to replace the whole rocker cause my inner and outer rockers are fine and sturdy. how can i fix that?

we have fixed alot of those. It just depends on how you care how it looks. The easy way is to bend some metal in a brake then tack them on. The plate will cover them up if done correct. If you don't want to do that you can still cut the rocker on top maybe an inch or less outward from where the lip was and butt weld it. I generally do that but it takes more work. We mainly needed to do that on the 80's up cause the rockers were fine and the lip rotted away. Generally on the 60's and 70's the rockers were just as bad.
It really is not hard to replace just the entire outer rocker. Time would be the same but if the paint is good you may not want to replace it. |

paint is not good. the reason i dont want to replace the whole rocker is because i cant weld so i got a buddy that does it for me, but i have to take my truck over there. i just dont wanna have my truck gone long. ill probably just bend a piece and weld it on.
