Power Window Conversion
First, I'd like to say that this site is exactly what I was looking for. There's so much knowledge here. So, here is my quesion to you...
I have an 82 C10 that I have installed an Autoloc 35lb door solenoid kit. I would alsolike to add power windows. With the manual windows, there is no interference. Is the power window assembly much bigger than the manual one? Id really appreciate a pic. Also is the manual to power window swap a hard one? Thanks! Kyle

Welcome Aboard!
Welcome!
I haven't personally done the conversion from manual to power, but I've heard that the kits you can buy for the conversion are fairly easy to install. If you've gone to a salvage yard and bought power windows off another chevy truck of the same year, should be a no-brainer except for the wiring. Hopefully somebody will chime in soon and give you some personal experience with this. Sometimes it takes awhile to get a good reply but hang in there.

power windows
ive converted many doors to power from manual its a breeze ya chisel out the rivets for the existing mechanism and bolt in the power one very very easy . Some accessory shops sell the wiring kits that make it real easy and of course you use pre existing holes to runt he wires. Ive always gone to a junkyard and gotten the rubber hoses to ruin the wires through and all if i needed them and its always worked out well its a couple hour project at most

I really really need to get power locks in my truck. I modified th locks so they sit down in the door. I used the ford (i know i know) locks because the are like little round bullets and hard to grab with your fingers down in the door like that. This makes it harder for theirs to break window and just unlock. Now they have to jump in through the window. Which give me more time to aim... j/k My bench seat is also locking with two pins. So far so good. No one has brocken in yet.
Anyway the way my locks are I have to unlock each side with the key and it gets old. I have an alarm so I want to hook the locks to that. I have seen alot of kits for converting these trucks from mech to power windows. Whats the best kit for the windows?

For power locks use The autoloc door actuator kit. It can be installed in conjunction witht most alarms as well as the stock locks. You can also get actuators out of a wreckers (any car with power locks) and wire them yourself.
