I hadn't seen those yet. They don't look too bad especially with the emblems on them. How much are they? ...Joe

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

I like the phantom to but in some areas here in Phoenix I've heard that they have been cracking down on covered headlights, just looking at a different option. Dubduce, what chrome pieces around the edges, my stock grille has the chrome around the edge.

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

If you look at the grille in thoose pics it has an extra chrome piece that runs the length of the grille itself, and looks like a 73 or so grille since it's like outlined.

See how mine are tubes and then a gap and then the factory chrome starts? Well on the grile you posted the grille itself has a chrome trim all the way around the outside of it.

I think those new grills look great, but there's no way I could bring myself to pay $200 for chrome plated plastic.

You have to look at it this way. If you've bought a truck newer than 1988 that's exactly what you're paying for directly from the factory. Personally, I kind of like them because they are different from what has been out on the market for quite a while. I really like the Chevy grille with the bowtie.

I have a 89-91 Blazer/Suburban core support and grille ready to go on mine, but I don't want to discharge my working A/C with R-12 freon in it right now. When my A/C quits working then I'll change mine to the 89-91 style chrome plated plastic grille! ...Joe

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

OK, well I still like it, and in regards to a $200 plastic grille that is what the stock one is anyway, my as well have more places to polish.

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

I like them, first thing I noticed when I pulled it from the mailbox. I like the fact that it's an aftermarket grille that CAN have the bowtie! As for the $200, hell I make that every 4 hours. Chump Change.

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

Well, I guess I will be the oddball; I don't really like it. The extra trim around the whole edge of it just really doesn't do it for me. IMO, it kind of makes it look kind of cheap. I really like all of the rest posted much better.

Re: New LMC catalog 81-87 grilles

As for the custom grille with the bar, I'd think it's probably one of the billet inserts that goes into the original grilles.

If I'm not mistaken most of the later model trucks like 88-91 an up or whatever if you buy a billet grille it's inserts and you have to cut out the top and bottom of the old one, or it fits over the old one.
