Question Will 74 C10 frame work under 62 2WD?

I did a search and didn't find an answer. I have a 74 C10 I used for parts and am giving the frame and suspension with rusted body away. A guy came by and asked if it would fit under his 62. His girl friend wrecked it twice and bent the frame in two places. I told him I didn't know. Both trucks are long wheel base, I assume close in WB. I told him I thought biggest problem would be getting the body and front clip mounts in the right location.

Any comments??

It can be done.....I've done it myself. But you'd end up with a truck that sits about like a stock 1/2 ton 4x4. To do it you need to start at the radiator support building new body mounts, and work your way to the back. The one I did about 13 or 14 years ago is still running around this area.

Captfab is right. That is how I am modifying my 65 shop truck. I am using a 84 cab and chassis straight frame setup, and I mounted the radiator support first. That sets the alignment for the rest of the build. Yours will have more dips and bumps, but it is the best way to start. Good Luck! Jerry

I forgot to mention to have the fenders with a few bolts in your support to get your wheelwell centered, and that will dictate where to mount the support.

My 62 is sitting on the original frame, with a subframe (front suspension) off a '73, instead of the torsion bar set up. Thats another option.

Thanks for all the comments, I will pass them on. Glad to know about the increased height as this guy is going for a low rider look. Front swap only is possible but she managed to tweak the frame at the cab/bed intersection too. I will remind him that "free" does not always mean cheap or lower cost in money and time compared to finding the right year frame. Around here they are still available and usually rust free except for a little surface rust.
