Someone broke into my car today

I work at Best Buy, and arrived for my shift at 2 pm. At about 235 my boss comes running in to tell me that my car has been broken into. He pulled up getting back from his lunch at that time, and managed to get a bried description and 1/2 of the plate. The guy had taken off as fast as he could, and flew right by the front of the store. If someone had been walking out, he wouldve hit them, and wed have a bigger problem. Fortunately all the guy was able to get his hands on, was my sub + box in the back. He had started to take the radio out, (he would've failed, its bolted in) when my boss came back from lunch and saw him.

He was backed in right next to my rear driver door, and had his open so that when they were both open, it would be like a little chute. Long story not so long, I talked to the cops on the phone twice (they didnt even bother coming out) and only the second time, which was almsot an hour later, did they even ask about a car. The first time, they didnt want to know because "it was too late". Less than 5 min later, yea thats too late riiiggghht.

So now I have a broken window in my car, it will cost me exactly 1/10th the price of the car to replace if I do it myself. The sad part, is I already had an alarm that I had set aside that I was going to buy today to put in for that exact reason. Well, I bought the alarm anyways, since I'll still need it... now.. to put it in with no experience putting one in... haha thats the hard part.

Still cant drive my truck... needs a pressure plate!

Re: Someone broke into my car today

A few years ago my car was broken into and they stole my stereo. I called the cops and they said if I want finger prints or pics taken I had to take my car to them. What a joke. About 1yr later there was a garage sale on the other sie of the park from my parents house so I stopped to check it out. There was my stereo with my SS# engraved in it. I called the cops and the guy was arrested for possesion of stolen property and confessed to breaking into the car. It may take awhile but karma will come back and bite whoever did this to you.

I am SOOOOOOO doing the fish hook thing... hahah

I can see myself saying this as I walk out to greet him "I thought those hooks were only for catching fish, didnt know they worked on the bottom feeders of society."

Re: Someone broke into my car today

Would you believe the thief can actually take you to court and win if you do the fish hooks or razor blade deal ? Supposedly it's illegal to set traps like that in any situation. Criminals just have too many rights.

Re: Someone broke into my car today

i sympathize with you man. i put my 79 ranchero into long term storage cause i went on deployment. well long story short, this deal that i was workin for a brand new engine and trans fell through so i was going to sell it. i had just bought another vehicle right after i got back cause i needed a car and had my tools sitting in my ranchero. luckly i had pulled my deck, subs, and amp before i drove home on leave. well i came back and went to get my tools out and take some photos for craigslist and low and behold, my car was broken into through the sliding back window and all 400 dollars worth of craftsman tools i had was stolen!! and this is inside a locked fenced off area on a us naval base!! all base security did was take a statement from me and said "we'll put this on file." that was the last that i heard of m tools

Re: Someone broke into my car today

Look on Ebay and in the local papers like the pennysaver or recycler to see if they guy is trying to sell it. You might get lucky.

Its a good thing you have a cool boss. I doubt an alarm would have made much difference, most people don't even turn their head when one goes off.
