i have a 63 lwb and i just noticed how i like the look of a 55-59 lwb fleetside bed..... i'd think it'd be a pretty straight swap? if so anyone seen it done? lets see some pictures.. thanks,

Re: Will it work?

i like those beds too. i like those whole trucks for that matter. i think it would be cool to add those rocket things to a 60-66 bed. i also would like to see pics.
thanks,
John

Re: Will it work?

sure it CAN work, with a little bit of work. my 60 is sitting on a mid 70's blazer frame and the guy that started this truck messed up the bed real bad. so i go a bed from a late 70s-early 80's dodge. the mounts are a little different and is going to take a bit of enginuity, but it CAN work with enough effort. i think that since its a gm product that you shouldn't have to do too much modifying. the reasons why i'm going with a dodge bed is cause the step side bed that i'm using is in better shape than mine, i knew the guy, and availability. will post photos when i'm done

That's an understatement!....That's a '60-'63 with a crap load of work done to it. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that truck

Now back to Sam59's question....it should work, but IMHO to make it look right, you may have to graft the two beds together to keep the body lines continuous.

Check out IF customs webiste, they did all the framework for that truck, and Grant Kustoms did all the sheetmetal work.

Re: Will it work?

I've got a bunch of pics of that truck, but I'm not gonna hijack this thread. I'll look for a link for ya.

Are you just wanting to put the spears on the 63 or a whole 58-59 bed? The spears wouln't be a problem and should look cool but the bed bodylines would not line up nor look good at all IMO.
