Re: anybody know about western chassis?

Western chassis is good stuff, Sport truck direct is questionable for some people...

Re: anybody know about western chassis?

That seems like a decent price. I dont think it includes the notch pieces in the picture for that price. You shouldnt have to notch the frame though for a flip kit.

But I have no experience with this company. I went with DJM. I bought the 3" spindles and 5" flip. I costed me around 320 i think from stylin concepts a few years back.
The reason I paid more for the spindles is because it wont change the geometry of the suspension like a spring would. There are really no alignment issues to take care of after installing spindles. But I did have to adjust toe a little.
I found that a 3/5 drop will leave the front sitting a little high. I am going to replace all ball joints in the near future and want to trim a bit off my springs to make a 5/5 drop.

Re: anybody know about western chassis?

I would avoid Sport Truck Direct at all cost! I purchased my WC drop coils...and was told they were 1" drop coils for a small block truck, but 3" coils for a big block. There is no way a BB will drop a truck 2" compared to a SB. Needless to say, the coils they sent me did not drop my truck at all (I wanted 3" coils to replace my 1" coils)...and they would not refund my money.

I have a Western Chassis flip kit in my truck, and am very happy with it and the quality.

Re: anybody know about western chassis?

I have WC spindal shackel/hanger combo on my truck. No problems here. I would paint all the parts before installing them. Use a high grade rust proof paint like POR-15 or Zero Rust. Look at the front suspension rebuild in my signature.

Re: anybody know about western chassis?

The econo kit your looking at is the 3" drop springs in front and a 5" rear flip kit.

They have 2.5" drop spindles that alot of guys here have used, and I don't recall anyone having problems with them.

Western Chasis makes reliable stuff and I bought my spindles and drop leafs from them with no problems.

There is no need to paint the WC flip kit components or coil springs, they come with a quality finish on them already. I do not know about their spindles or shackles/hangers though (I have Bell Tech)

Re: anybody know about western chassis?

I have WC spindles and drop leaves. No problems with them after 2.5+ years.

I won't deal with STD. I emailed them 3 times about wanting to purchase my stuff from them, and never got a response. That's bad customer service, and Jeff's experience gauranteed I would never deal with them.

I bought my stuff from www.performancesuspension.com based on Swervin's recommendation. No problems, and they answered my questions by phone before I ordered.

I have actually never heard of them. One reason I went with DJM was because their spindles for the 1 1/4 "heavy duty" brakes were cheaper than the regular brakes. Some companies prices are opposite with the brake sizes.

You are one of the fortunate few that bought from the @ssholes at AIM and didn't have a bad experience. Count your self blessed and move on. Do a search on the suspension forum here, or any other truck forum and you will find a LONG list of very dissatisfied customers. AIM/Chassis Tech are all the same thing and they totally SUCK.

I have personally seen two sets of broken Chassis Tech spindles. the spindle shaft itself will actually just fall out.

Arrow Re: anybody know about western chassis?

I'v used a set of WC spindles on an S10 i use to have and now my setp son has that truck and never had any issues with them and i think i got them thru STD without any problems but i have heard alot of guys here say they have had very bad dealings with them so i guess i got lucky so you should try to get them from some where other than STD.

Good luck.

If you actually got the "correct" part, and didn't have to modify it to make it fit, and it hasn't fallen apart already your probably safe. Just be forwarned in the future you are taking a gamble ordering from them and the odds are severly stacked against you.

This bag was ordered by the shop working on my Blazer. I asked him not to order anything from them, but he insisted he was a Chassis Tech dealer and they would stand behind their product because he was a dealer.

The bag blew apart while he was standing there watching it. They "refused" to honor the warranty on it becuase he "over extended" it. He told them it was sitting still when it happened but they refused to honor the warranty.

This is just a small samle of the many AIM/Chassis Tech horror stories.

You are correct. About 5 minutes from my place, and let me tell you, it is straight up SWEAT SHOP quality work in there. Their service and parts quality is horrible. They overwork many many illegal mexicans who don't know a bag from a ball joint, the quality of their work is shady at best, and I've never had a part from them work correctly the first time.

On my old Nissan Frontier, I bought a rollpan from them. We spent hours more on the body work to line that rollpan up than we should have.

Also got some drop spindles from them (didnt realize my distributor was carrying CT spindles)... the damn things didn't fit at all... you could tell they were made for that truck, but nothing cleared. A set of belltechs that I got a week later fit perfect.

Don't even get me started on their electronics... it's not a pretty story.

If you haven't broken your spindles yet, consider yourself lucky. I've witnessed first hand what kind of quality this company offers, and it's definately not good.
