Re: headlights

Sounds like a ground problem. Make sure the negative cable on the battery has a ground strap to the body. I get customers with the same problem on older vehicles all the time. I replace the wire, strap, or clean them and usually get lights back immediately. Good Luck... Jerry

Re: headlights

Which switch did you change? Was it the light switch on the dash? I thought that mine was bad because the parking lights and other lights worked but the headlights didn't come on.... turns out the bright light dimmer on the floor had gone bad and that was the problem...... I would try replacing that ... its only 6 bucks or so.

Re: headlights

Quick way to find out is to get a wire and run it from a good ground(bare metal, negative batt terminal even. Then touch the other end to the metal housing(if it's taillights or blinker/side markers, or the ground prong of the headlight. If it workers BAM ground issue. I had light troubles 5 or 6 different instances on my 66 every time was a ground. Good luck, and happy bad ground hunting. Oh one time I ran a wire from the engine bay (where I had a good ground) all the way to the taillights so they would work. Left it that way for a year or so.

PS: with a bad ground all lights will work except the one that has a bad ground.

Re: headlights

If the light is dim that is usually a ground problem.
